Artist of the week

I decided to make this entry that wasn’t intended, yielding to the blackmail which is subjecting me my head because at these odd hours of the night I’m still singing that “maybe I was born to hold you in these arms…”

The song, “in these arms” of the group “the swell season“, is included in a little gem called Strick joy

This is a perfect band, perfect for those rainy days when you want to stay at home, watching through the window, seeing how raindrops slide by the glass…

It was 2006 and we stayed astonished to see how Marketa Irglova (Czech singer and pianist) and Glen Hansard (lead singer of the Irish band, The Frames) knew, fell in love and earned an Oscar after having filmed Once, a not suitable film for sensitive hearts and mandatory for music and romantic stories  lovers. This film was also the beginning of a path that led to the two singers to form The Swell Season, band that released a pair of adorable albums (The swell season in 2006 and Strick joy in 2009) and played for nearly 4 years, until finally they decided to finish the project and continue with their lives.

When Hansard puts his hands on the guitar, actually grab the heart of anyone who listens to him sing and when we speak of Irglova, we speak of delicacy and the candor personified. If we combine both personalities we have one of the greatest phenomena of introspective folk from the last years. That’s The Swell Season: the charm of a duo that also, some say, reaches the sublime over the stage.

See you and happy weekend!!

I was born to hold you in these arms…”
